Season Wrap-up

Dundas looking to return home

Real McCoys

The Dundas Real McCoys, after a two-year absence, are coming home to the J.L. Grightmire Arena for the 2019-20 Allan Cup Hockey season. The staff of the Harry Howell Arena went out of their way to accomodate the requests and desires of the staff of the Real McCoys. In spite of the staffs' efforts, the Howell Arena never did quite feel like home.

Cautious optimism now fills the air as the McCoys prepare for their return to the Grightmire Arena, and a return to their past good fortunes. "Our goalie, Mike Mole gave us a chance to win every game. I don't make excuses, but there are reasons that we aren't still playing." said Don Robertson, Real McCoys President and General Manager.

"We played six games in eight days with three of those games in the playoffs. Nathan Longpre was hit in the face with a puck, Dan Lapointe missed game 5 with a broken finger and several players missed games because of the flu, of all things."

"The Generals are a deep quality hockey club, and we needed all hands on deck to beat them, and we knew that. We competed well in four games, but that was not good enough. One unfortunate thing was that Ron Bernacci and I built our team to play out of the Grightmire for playoffs, on the smaller ice surface, and we all know how that worked out."

"We want to thank our hockey staff for the extra effory they put in, being in the Harry Howell again this season as well as the Howell Areana staff. Our executive is made up of absolutely great people, and like our sponsors, they have stayed with us during two difficult years."

"I want to ensure our loyal fans, and the ones who took a couple of years off, that we will have a very competative hockey club next season when we get back to the newly renovated J L Grighmire Arena. We will have a great core coming back, and will add to that group to take another shot at winning another Allan Cup Trophy." Roberston added.
