Dundas Valley soars to girls hockey championship

The Dundas Valley Gryphons captured the girls hockey division-II crown on Mar 31, edging Westdale 3-0 at Chedoke Twin Pad Arena


Jessica Hils notched the game winning goal late in the first period to hand the Gryphons their first girls hockey title as Dundas Valley Secondary School.  Madeline Gillis and Megan Vogel added the other two goals in the game while Camille Gillis registered two assists in the win.

Paige Corbett recorded the shutout victory for Dundas Valley. 

The Gryphons cruised through the division-II season posting a 6-0 record notching 29 goals with just four goals allowed all season long.  They advanced to the championship final by beating  No. 4 ranked Westmount on a 3-2 overtime victory on Wednesday and finished the campaign with perfect 8-0

Westdale qualified for the division-II final upsetting last year’s champion Sherwood 2-1 in the other division-II semifinal game on March 29.
