Dundas Little League needs help

As submitted to the Editor of the Dundas Star on September 14th, 2018.

Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter to be published in the local Dundas paper because the Dundas Little League has a message that needs to get out into our community. We are in need of volunteers.

Here is a little background. Dundas Little League has been chartered since 1954 and has served our community uninterrupted since then. In 1965, Dundas Little League hosted the very first Canadian Championships to great fanfair. Baseball and Little League in particular are an important part of Dundas and our community. The volunteers that coach and help run the league do so tirelessly with the Little League motto of Character, Courage and Loyalty in mind.

Our coaches teach our young players sportsmanship, diligence, integrity, leadership, teamwork and empathy. Throughout the season, our players have been taught how to lose graciously and how to win humbly. It is through baseball that we are able to teach our players so many life skills, all that will help build them into strong and well balanced people.

Now, our league is in jeopardy. As bad luck has drawn it this year, our board/executive is losing many key players. Now is an important time for parents, grandparents and/or guardians to help out. We need a New President (who will be guided by me, as Past President), Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Umpire-in-chief, Umpire Scheduler, Concessions Manager and Training Co-ordinator. We are looking for our Little League Parents/Families, local retirees and/or baseball lovers to email for more information and come to our AGM on Thursday, October 4th at 7pm in the basement hall of the Collins Brewhouse.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Regards,
Amy Yanover,
Dundas Little League President
